"Buy Me A Bike" Bazaar - June 14, 2009

Remember the kids at Redeemer's Home in Antipolo? Won't it be nice if they could have a bike (or bikes) to ride around their village, so that they too could have happy childhood memories riding their bikes, like many of us do?

If you think so, then let's do something to raise funds to buy them a bike (or two)! Come to the

Buy Me A Bike Bazaar
Everything for under P200!

June 14, Sunday
8:00AM - 12:00NN
57 F. Agoncillo St., Area 1, U.P. Campus (it's at the back of the Infirmary, take the street between the Protestant Church and the Infirmary, 2nd house on the left--this is the home of NOKIA and LAVENDER, thank you very much to you sisters for generously lending us your yard )

What's going to happen?

1. First, look at your bodega of bike parts and see what you would be willing to donate to the bazaar. It can be an old pair of tires, an extra bike pump, an unused pair of gloves, an old RD, a jersey that's too small for you, etc. Whataver you are willing to let go.

2. Donate it to the bazaar. When you donate it, we'll put a price tag on it and sell it during the bazaar. The price tag will not be more than P200 per item. So all items that will be sold at the bazaar is guaranteed to be less than P200!

3. With one item donated, you will have a right to buy anything at the bazaar. No donation, no purchase. We will price your donation, and the price of your donated part has nothing to do with the item that you can purchase. This means, if you donated a pair of grips and we priced it at P20, you can still purchase a used pair of brake levers for P50. And you can buy multiple items even if you donated just one bike part.

4. All donations will be priced very very low, because our objective is to convert these quickly into cash, so we can buy those bikes for the kids at Redeemer's. This also guarantees you get fantastic deals at the bazaar!

So please come, donate as many parts as you can, and have fun hunting for good bargains from what others donated as well.

I'll start. I am donating a used Kenda SB8 (1 pc only), used 3x only. Magkano? Definitely less than P200. But you'll find out during the bazaar.

Spread the word to your other biking friends and hope to see you!

May 10 Sunday PMTB Give-Back Ride

The Redeemer's Home Foundation, Inc.
441 Emerald Lane, Cristimar Village, Antipolo City
Contact Persons: Bernard and Gemma Cerilla
Tel. Nos. 697-0960, 0919 887-5562

Background

Non-stock, non-profit. They give temporary care to abandoned or neglected infants aged 0-3 years old turned over to them from government hospitals by DSWD. "Temporary" supposedly because they hope that the kids would get reunited with their birth parents or be adopted (thru DSWD).

At the moment they have 15 kids under their care, the youngest being one month old:
  • less than 1 yr old - 5 kids
  • 1 yr old - 1 kid
  • 3 yrs old - 3 kids
  • 4 yr old - 1 kid
  • 5 yrs old - 2 kids
  • 6 yrs old - 1 kid
  • 7 yrs old - 1 kid
  • 9 yrs old - 1 kid

What They Need

They accept cash donations and gifts in kind, but no toys please. They prefer to receive the basic needs of the kids, i.e.

a) infant formula (Bona, Lactum, Sustagen, Nido--they give milk even to the older kids)
b) diapers, size M to XL, they are not particular about the brand
c) Cerelac pwede
d) rice, kahit daw yung 1yr old kumakain na ng rice
e) clothes and vitamins

The Plan

Let's ride to Antenna, and then on the way back pass by Redeemer's to:

a) hand over our cash donation from the Christmas party (approx. Php19K)
b) hand over any other donations in cash or in kind
c) share a snack with the kids and the adult staff (around 7 persons) of Redeemer's

Meet-up at Shell gas station, C5 corner Julia Vargas, 0600-0630. 1.5-2hrs approx ang ride time to Antenna, depende sa mga kasama. Then we proceed to Antipolo City via Eastridge. Hopefully, makarating tayo dun sa place around 1030-1100. Ride will be c/o LUI-G.

Please bring snacks to share.
Please also bring any of the items listed above that you may want to give to Redeemer's.
